MV Barramundi is safely securing a new CLEANBU milestones

Our newest addition to the growing CLEANBU fleet, MV Barramundi, has successfully completed our first “Single Point Mooring” (SPM) operation off West Coast India. During this operation she was safely moored to offshore floating buoys securing her position during the operation.

Her cargo handling equipment safely lifted and secured the large floating cargo hoses to her midship manifolds, and the entire cargo of 77 000 mts clean petroleum products (CPP) was successfully loaded within one day.

The vessel is now destined for Argentina to discharge her liquid petroleum cargo as a tanker. She will there convert to “grain clean” dry bulk mode and is targeted to safely carry a full cargo of grains back to Asia.

Since her delivery this summer, MV Barramundi has solely been trading in efficient combi-patterns. Her maiden voyage was a tanker cargo of caustic soda to Australia, followed by dry bulk alumina from Australia to Middle East Gulf prior to the above CPP voyage. This switch between dry bulk and tanker operations greatly reduces the time in ballast compared to the comparable standard vessels.

For the first 2 round voyages since delivery end September, MV Barramundi is estimated to save a total of 5 500 mts of CO2 compared to the alternative shipping solutions. She is on route of saving the equivalent CO2 emissions as from 2 500 cars annually during her first year in operation.
