CLEANBU

Expanding KCC’s service into the clean petroleum product markets

KCC took delivery of eight new generation combination carriers, the CLEANBUs, in the period January 2019 to May 2021. The CLEANBUs are full fledged LR1 tankers and Kamsarmax dry bulk vessels. In addition to transporting all types of dry bulk products and caustic soda, they ship clean petroleum products, expanding into the petroleum and petrochemical industries.

CABU

Well proven shipping solution for the alumina industry

The CABU combination carriers service the aluminum and alumina industry transporting caustic soda solution (CSS) to the world’s largest alumina refineries in Australia. In our trades to the Middle East Gulf, the vessels also ship alumina to the aluminum smelters in Bahrain and the Emirates. In addition, the CABUs transport several other dry bulk commodities such as salt, bauxite, iron ore, grains, and solid fuels.

A new generation of low carbon, zero-emission fuel prepared, CABU vessels

The CABU III newbuilds will introduce a new standard of efficiency with an estimated 35% reduction in carbon footprint than the first generation CABU vessels built between 2001 and 2007, which the newbuilds will replace. This improvement is both a result of economies of scale and substantially improved fuel efficiency adding to KCC’s already highly efficient combination trades.   In these trades where the CABU fleet ships caustic soda into Australia and various dry bulk commodities out of Australia, the CABU III newbuilds will offer an estimated 50-60% lower carbon emission per ton transported than standard dry bulk and tanker vessels.
