Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC) is seeking an experienced and commercially driven charterer to join its Singapore company and be responsible for the chartering of KCC's CABU fleet in the Pacific region including Oceania. KCC’s CABU business is a well-established and successful operation built over several decades based on strong, long-term customer relationships. The CABU vessels transport caustic soda solution (CSS) into Australia and utilize the return voyages from Australia to carry a range of dry bulk commodities.  By continuously switching between CSS and dry bulk cargoes, the CABU fleet generates premium earnings, delivers lower earnings volatility and substantially lower carbon emissions than conventional vessels.

KCC’s Singapore office, located within Torvald Klaveness’ premises in Singapore, serves as a key commercial hub for KCC’s operations in the region and consists of a dedicated team comprising the Head of CABU Chartering, the Head of CLEANBU Chartering, and a Senior Operations Manager responsible for trades across the Far East, Oceania and Pacific region. KCC’s Singapore team is supported by colleagues located in Oslo, Dubai and Manila.

The position reports directly to the CEO based in Oslo.

Your responsibilities and tasks:

  • Manage day-to-day chartering and scheduling of the CABU fleet ensuring efficient vessel deployment on Contracts of Affreightment (CoAs) for shipment of CSS into Australia and on CoAs and spot employment on dry bulk return cargoes from Australia

  • Develop and maintain close customer relationships with CSS customers and a selected number of dry bulk customers in the trades to and from Australia including:
    - Optimize fleet scheduling to meet customers’ shipping programs and inventory requirements while minimizing the carbon footprint of KCC’s service to these customers.
    - Delivering industry-leading customer service and operational performance, consistently meeting stringent KPIs and further strengthening long-term customer relationships.
    - Extending and expanding CoAs with existing customers and developing new customer relationships. Contract negotiations and renewal processes often span several months and require close engagement with customers and other stakeholders.

  • ‍Drive synergies between KCC’s CABU and CLEANBU business in the Pacific region working closely with the Head of CLEANBU Chartering in Singapore and collaborating with KCC's sister company, Klaveness Dry Bulk (KDB), to further develop KCC's service to existing and new dry bulk customers.

  • Contribute actively to the continued development of KCC's CABU business and other strategic growth initiatives across the company, helping to strengthen business resilience and identify new commercial opportunities in close collaboration with KCC's Strategy and Business Development team in Oslo.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Diploma or university degree.

  • Chartering manager with in-depth knowledge of industrial focused dry bulk (and/or  product tanker and/or chemical tanker) chartering.

  • Proven experience in managing a portfolio of CoAs including fleet scheduling of vessels/trades servicing world class industrial customers.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in chartering within these vessel types, preferably in the Far East, Oceania and the Pacific.

  • Good data & analytics skills.

  • Customer mindset, proven experience in maintaining and developing business and relationships with industrial customers.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • The ability to combine daily chartering works with medium/long term planning and business development.

Personal qualities:

To succeed in this role, you should have a genuine interest in building and developing strong, long-term relationships with a core group of key customers. You are committed to delivering the highest standards of service while continuously seeking opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of customers' seaborne logistics.

You have the creativity, commercial drive, and perseverance to identify and implement improvements that create value for both customers and KCC. You are a collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and you actively share knowledge and best practices with colleagues across KCC's offices in Singapore, Oslo, Dubai, and Manila.

We offer a key role in our global Combination Carriers team in a company with great ambitions for the future.
